Child Protection Specialist

Job Summary:
The Government of Prince Edward Island is seeking a highly skilled Child Protection Social Worker to join our team. As a delegated child protection social worker, you will be responsible for investigating and assessing child protection reports, providing child protection services, and mentoring less experienced social workers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct child protection investigations and assessments to determine if a child is in need of protection
- Provide child protection services in accordance with the Child Protection Act
- Mentor and provide case direction to less experienced Child Protection Social Workers and non-social workers
- Develop clinical assessments and construct service plans to ensure children's safety and enhance parental functioning
- Collaborate with service providers and the community to develop and enhance client resources
- Prepare cases for legal interventions and represent the Director of Child Protection in Court
- Prioritize and effectively manage caseload expectations
- Provide leadership and consultation to new staff and students
- Provide after-hours emergency child protection coverage on a rotation basis
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will require a strong understanding of child protection principles and practices, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
