Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Wireless Senior Field Operations Specialist to join our team at Freedom Mobile. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our wireless network in Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network Maintenance: Primarily responsible for maintaining the integrity of our wireless network, including UTRAN network related to backhaul, macro, small cell, and indoor sites/equipment.
  • SLA and KPI Targets: Accountable for achieving company Service Level Agreement (SLA) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets.
  • Site Acceptance and Testing: Responsible for site acceptance and testing from internal/external service providers (new or upgrade/downgrade).
  • Transport Site Acceptance and Testing: Responsible for transport site acceptance and testing from internal/external service providers (new or upgrade/downgrade), including RFC testing.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance of access and transport nodes in the field, including battery, call test, nodes, microwave measurements, safety audit, LOS verification, and site housekeeping.
  • Site Safety: Responsible for site safety, performing site safety audits and maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting and Restoration: Troubleshoot and restore field access and transport service issues, including minor/major/critical/service degradation.
  • Equipment Replacement: Replace faulty field access and transport equipment parts and engage rigging crew when required.
  • Work Order Execution: Execute transport work orders, including parameter and configuration changes (preparing transmission for new sites).
  • Warehouse Management: Manage field warehouse and warehousing, including RMA on faulty parts.
  • On-Call Scheduling: Participate in on-call scheduling and emergency staff augmentation and extended hours (overtime).
  • Field Work: Perform field work, including working in heights (rooftop, remote areas, and night work), and working on ground equipment underneath towers (no climbing required or allowed beyond 10 feet).
  • Special Projects: Participate in special projects, such as MW swap, access lay-over, SW upgrade, battery upgrade, and others.
  • Collaboration and Meetings: Attend group meetings and collaborate with other groups.
  • Skills and Knowledge Upgrade: Participate in skill and knowledge upgrade (in-house/vendor).
Qualifications
  • LTE and 5G Network Knowledge: Knowledgeable in LTE and 5G network acceptance, testing, and maintenance. Experience with Nokia LTE/5G is an asset.
  • Telecommunications Background: Graduate of a recognized telecommunications institution as a Telecommunications Systems Technician, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Test Equipment and Tools: Familiarity with test equipment and tools (BERT, spectrum analyzer, PIM tester, fiber optic tools, battery tester, etc...).
  • Networking and Routing: Experience with Ethernet/IP routing & switching, DC power plants, microwave radio, etc...).
  • Valid Driver's License: Valid driver's license.
