Residential Counsellor

Springboard is seeking a skilled Residential Counsellor to join our team at the Youth Justice Residence. As a Residential Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting youth aged 12-17 who are in detention awaiting court or serving a period of custody. Your primary functions will include client supervision, support, ongoing life skills training, safety and security, crisis management, and administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities- Group Facilitation: Provide individuals with direction or advice on daily living activities, including hygiene, budgeting, cooking, and social skills.
- Support and Counselling: Offer counselling and support to clients and their families, assisting them in reaching their individual goals.
- Community Outreach/Outings: Oversee and supervise community/recreational outings for individuals or groups of clients, liaising with community partners and referral sources.
- Administrative Duties: Provide clerical/reception and administrative support to the program.
- Health and Safety: Foster a safe and healthy work environment for residents and staff, dealing with crisis situations as needed.
- Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree in Social Services, e.g., Child and Youth Worker, Youth Justice.
- Valid First Aid and CPI Certifications.
- At least one year of recent work experience in services/programs for males aged 12-17 in detention or custody.
