Residential Counsellor

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Residential Counsellor to join our Developmental Services team at Springboard. As a key member of our team, you will provide support and guidance to individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis, helping them to develop the skills they need to live independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support and counselling to residents, focusing on life skills development, transition planning, and crisis management.
- Facilitate life skills programming in the home and community, promoting independent living and social interaction.
- Escort residents on community outings, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Manage challenging behaviors in a residential setting, using positive reinforcement techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a Social Services field, such as BSW, BA, or DSW.
- Strong knowledge of computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Valid First Aid and Safe Management certifications.
- Minimum two years of recent work experience in the Developmental Services sector, with a focus on supports and counselling, life skills facilitation, and community supports.
Skills and Abilities:
- Individual and group facilitation skills, with a focus on promoting independent living skills.
- Assessment skills, including determination of suitability and risk assessment.
- Program planning skills, with the ability to implement, evaluate, and modify programs as needed.
- Effective crisis intervention skills, with the ability to work well under pressure.
