Job SummaryWe're seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Counsellor to join our team at Terry Fox House. As a key member of our community justice programs, you'll be responsible for providing direct service delivery and maintaining a safe and structured environment for our youth in care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide group facilitation and support to clients, focusing on daily living activities, social skills, and community engagement.
- Offer counselling and support to clients and their families, assisting them in reaching their individual goals.
- Oversee and supervise community outings, liaise with community partners, and escort youth to appointments.
- Perform administrative duties, including clerical and reception support.
- Foster a safe and healthy work environment, dealing with crisis situations as needed.
- Diploma or undergraduate degree in the social sciences, child and youth care, or social work.
- Minimum one year of experience working with youth who have experienced trauma, using a trauma-informed framework.
- Demonstrated experience in crisis prevention and intervention.
- Valid G driver's license and/or successful completion of a full G license within two years of hire.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Able to collaborate with multiple stakeholders effectively, respectfully, and efficiently with minimal supervision.
