Job Overview

The Underwriter II – Commercial Lines is a key role within our organization, responsible for analyzing the acceptability of complex business risks and providing value-added expertise to policyholders. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments using advanced technology and external data sources to inform quoting, negotiation, and acceptance decisions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with reinsurance and subscribing companies to ensure seamless policy issuance.
  • Ensure policy renewals are processed in accordance with company guidelines and retention goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of decisions and policy data, providing transparency and accountability.
  • Communicate complex decisions and respond to requests in a clear and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to interpret rating procedures, wordings, underwriting policies, and regulations.
  • Manage work assignments efficiently, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive team environment, fostering open communication and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in the Property and Casualty industry, with a strong understanding of risk analysis and underwriting principles.
  • Post-secondary education or related business experience, with a focus on insurance or a related field.
  • Completed or actively pursuing a Property and Casualty Industry Designation, demonstrating expertise and commitment to the field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to analyze and present complex data.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise justification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
