At Aviva, we're looking for a seasoned Senior Manager to lead our Guidewire Development team. As a key member of our organization, you'll be responsible for guiding globally distributed teams in planning, designing, developing, testing, and implementing solutions. Your expertise in Guidewire Claims domain and technical hands-on experience will be invaluable in assessing Technical Debts and Priorities with the leads to ensure sustainable and production-ready solutions.

This role reports to the AVP - Software Engineering and requires a strong understanding of Cloud Technologies and experience in leading Cloud programs. You'll work closely with business analysts and product owners to review software requirements, challenge them on business value, validate assumptions made, and influence stakeholders on prioritization of work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with business analysts and product owners to review software requirements, challenge them on business value, validate assumptions made, and influence stakeholders on prioritization of work.
  • Solution Design & Estimation: Create architectural diagrams, high-level, and detailed design documents & estimates. Design screens, business rules, and workflow changes.
  • Coding and Peer Reviews: Write programs, configure/package/deploy software. Establish and follow coding standards. Debug and unit test the code. Perform peer code reviews.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Mentor team members on best practices. Coach senior resources to become future leaders.
  • People Management: Set clear goals for team members. Meet with the team 1-on-1 on a regular basis. Collect feedback from stakeholders and provide feedback to the team on a regular basis.

What you'll bring:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineer or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Guidewire Could Certification required and ACE is preferred.
  • 2 years of most recent Guidewire Claims domain and technical hands-on experience.
  • Understand Cloud Technologies and experience in leading Cloud programs.
  • Minimum 8 years hands-on experience of GW Integration Development (Expertise in GOSU, Rules Engine, Data Model, API development).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in GW integration development using GOSU with PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ContactManager, and ClaimCenter.
  • Minimum 8 years in architecting integration of GW PC/BC/CM/CC/Digital product with internal and external systems/applications.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience building Micro-services architecture, Event-driven architecture, and patterns.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience GW Edge API and its customization.
  • Agile software development, including the use of Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence.
  • Domain knowledge on Property & Casualty Insurance.
