About the Role

We're seeking an experienced professional with a Master's degree in Social Work, Nursing, or Counseling/Psychology, along with relevant experience in mental health and addictions. Your strong assessment and counseling skills will enable you to work effectively with individuals presenting to the Emergency Department in crisis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate assessment and intervention for individuals in crisis due to symptoms associated with serious and severe psychiatric problems, addiction, and/or psycho-social issues.
  • Work collaboratively with hospital colleagues in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Social Work, Nursing, or Counseling/Psychology with a combination of relevant experience in mental health and addictions.
  • Registration with the appropriate professional college.
  • Minimum of three years recent, related experience in crisis intervention in the fields of mental health and addictions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of best practice guidelines in crisis intervention and crisis theory.
  • Excellent assessment and counseling skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and advocate for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop care plans for those in crisis.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and foster community linkages and resources.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing quality customer service in dealing with the public (patients and families) as well as various clinical professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in computer skills mandatory.
  • Excellent attendance record.
