About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Community Support Specialist to join our Supported Independent Living (SIL) program. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with diverse abilities to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one assistance to individuals in their homes and local community, promoting independence and community integration.
  • Develop and implement tailored support plans, focusing on skill development, community integration, social, recreation, and leisure programs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary frontline teams to facilitate health care appointments and support individuals with health concerns.
  • Encourage and motivate clients to participate in community activities, promoting an active lifestyle.
  • Establish and maintain professional boundaries, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, educational personnel, social workers, resource workers, service providers, and partners.
  • Provide feedback and report to the case management team and Program Manager.
Requirements
  • Class 5 BC Driver's License and a clean driver's abstract.
  • Personal vehicle for work and car insurance with a third-party liability of $2 million.
  • Minimum of 1-year of experience (or combination of education and experience).
  • Positive Behaviour Management Training.
  • Criminal Record Clearance, Ministry of Justice.
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • MANDT Training will be offered in-house.
  • Food Safe Certificate.
  • 2 professional references.
  • University degree or college diploma in a social science program and/or subsequent experience.
