About the Role:

The BC SPCA is seeking a dedicated Animal Care Attendant to join our team. As a key member of our shelter staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals in our care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional care and attention to the animals, including feeding, cleaning, and administering medication as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to maintain a clean and safe environment for both animals and staff.
  • Assist with front office duties, including answering phones, responding to inquiries, and processing adoptions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, volunteers, and the public, providing excellent customer service and promoting a positive image of the BC SPCA.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in animal care and welfare.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and driver's abstract.
  • Philosophical harmony with the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the BC SPCA.
  • Demonstrated interest in all aspects of animal welfare.
  • Sound knowledge of animals, their breeds, characteristics, and common diseases.
  • Strong desire to provide excellent customer service skills, including patience, professionalism, positive attitude, attention to detail, and adaptability.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with colleagues, customers, and volunteers.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize demands on time and maintain a high level of standards to portray the image of the BC SPCA as a compassionate and caring organization.
