About the Role:

D2L is a pioneering education company transforming learning and building the future of work.

The Head of Business Development and Client Success will spearhead corporate client acquisition, while leading implementation adoption for new and existing clients. This role demands strategic planning to meet pipeline generation goals, closing high-stakes deals in the learning upskilling sector.

This leader will oversee sales teams, manage key relationships with senior decision-makers, maintain a qualified pipeline, and foster growth through consultative approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Ed Partnerships to align messaging and activities, ensuring transparency and driving growth
  • Supervise staff, providing constructive feedback to support continuous growth and development
  • Develop strong relationships with new and existing clients to ensure high platform adoption
  • Promote the Wave platform and training/education to increase usage among clients
  • Create client account plans for ongoing adoption and platform usage
  • Interface with D2L Wave and Corporate Advisory groups to foster engagement with key partners in corporate learning
  • Foster a culture of customer empathy, partnership, and continuous value creation
  • Expand revenue in accounts through cross-sell and up-sell in partnership with sales
  • Advance initiatives to build long-term customer advocacy
  • Manage a team of D2Lers and champion a high-performing culture by connecting team members' day-to-day tasks to D2L's mission

About You:

  • Excellent communication skills, with experience communicating at various levels within an organization
  • A track record of success in corporate learning and development, preferably in the US market
  • Ability to formulate and communicate a clear, long-term business development strategy aligned with the organization's overall goals and market dynamics
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with experience establishing and maintaining relationships with industry players, potential clients, and strategic partners
  • Understanding of financial models, cost structures, and revenue streams to assess opportunity viability and partnerships
  • Leadership experience, particularly in growth-oriented SaaS companies, with a focus on fostering collaborative and results-driven cultures
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as thorough knowledge of business management, forecasting strategies, and techniques
