Join the Bank of Canada's International Economic Analysis Department

We are seeking a highly skilled economist to contribute to our team's research and analysis of global economic activity.

As an economist in the Overseas Economies Division, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering briefings to senior management and the Governing Council on your subject-matter expertise
  • Developing and improving monitoring tools and models, as well as conducting longer-term analyses
  • Collaborating with a diverse group of experts to conduct macroeconomic analysis and advance the Department's research agenda

Key qualifications include:

  • Advanced knowledge of macroeconomics and sound econometric skills
  • Ability to conduct applied economic research, including forecasting models
  • Proven ability to communicate complex ideas to a broad range of audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills and facility for collaboration and teamwork

We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, including a defined-benefit pension plan, benefits, and high flexibility for work-life balance. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations.

Candidates whose experience and/or educational background may not be at the Senior Economist level will be considered for a position within the accelerated progression stream program (P3-P4).

This program allows employees to acquire the skills they need over a number of years to reach the working level of a Senior Economist at the job grade 17.

Language requirement: English or French essential. Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Relocation assistance may be provided, if required.

We offer a hybrid work model, allowing most employees to telework from home for a substantial part of each month. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
