Job Summary

The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the movement of goods, materials, and equipment within the organization. This includes planning, organizing, and overseeing the operational logistics of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile orders and instructions received from customers
  • Develop specific plans to prioritize tasks and optimize logistics operations
  • Organize tasks to accomplish the work and ensure smooth operation of computer equipment and machinery
  • Oversee operational logistics of the organization, including tracking and completing work orders
  • Co-ordinate activities with other work units or departments, including warehouse and production units
  • Monitor movement of supplies and materials between departments
  • Perform routine clerical duties, including preparing and submitting reports
  • Ensure accuracy of completed time sheets, payroll, and other summaries
  • Ensure proper functioning of equipment and maintain work records and logs
  • Monitor personnel workloads and locations, and organize warehouse and work areas
  • Co-ordinate traffic flow of supplies and compile worksheets and specifications of orders
  • Consult with production supervisor to schedule production runs in a cost and time-efficient manner
  • Estimate type and quantity of materials and labour required for production, construction, and other projects
  • Prepare and maintain progress and other reports, including project management and customer service
  • Train workers in duties and policies, and conduct performance reviews
  • Co-ordinate, assign, and review work, and requisition or order materials, equipment, and supplies
  • Advise vehicle operators of traffic and other problems, and assist with maintenance of communications equipment
  • Communicate with ships, aircraft, and other remote operations, and dispatch personnel according to schedules and work orders
  • Follow-up on issues with work orders, and keep track of shipments
  • Knowledge of cross-border dispatching regulations and practices, and knowledge of highway trucking and associated rules and regulations
  • Maintain vehicle operator work records, and process and transmit information and instructions to co-ordinate the activities of vehicle operators and crews using dispatching equipment
  • Record mileage, fuel use, repairs, and other expenses, and respond to urgent calls from individuals who find themselves in life-threatening situations and who require assistance
  • Schedule assignments and co-ordinate activities of vehicle operators, crews, and equipment, and organize and maintain inventory
  • Establish work schedules and procedures, and plan, organize, and oversee operational logistics of the organization
