Academic Support Specialist

Olds College of Agriculture & Technology is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Academic Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Teaching and Learning Centre of Innovation, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic success of our students, particularly those from international backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities- Student Academic Coaching
- Collect, organize, and analyze data to advise students on academic achievement strategies.
- Provide individualized coaching to support students' academic goals.
- Assist students with writing and presentation skills.
- Group Facilitation
- Design and deliver group sessions to support academic success.
- Develop and deliver supplemental English language skills bridging programs.
- Enhancing Student Experience
- Develop strong relationships with faculty, staff, and leadership to ensure student success.
- Stay current with research on student learning and success, including study skills, transition issues, and student experience.
- Contribute to college working groups focused on student success and international student experience.
- Develop resources to support student academic success.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Education, International Relations, Social Sciences, Counseling) or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience in a related field, with a focus on international students and English language support.
- International experience and proficiency in a second language are considered assets.
- High emotional intelligence, excellent interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Commitment to health and safety policies.
