Public Safety Communications Officer

About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to join our team as a Public Safety Communications Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for answering and handling 911 calls, providing emergency medical dispatch instructions, and delivering high-quality customer service to all customers/patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer and handle 911 calls, providing emergency medical dispatch instructions for emergency situations such as CPR, childbirth, choking, bleeding control, etc.
- Deliver emergency service dispatching and maintain daily reporting.
- Monitor and coordinate the movement of Island EMS resources.
- Book and coordinate non-emergency ambulance transfers.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal Shift Captains & Teams.
- Report on internal and external service inquiries.
- Collaborate with team members and share information.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Grade 12 (or equivalent) education.
- Excellent English language skills.
- Excellent computer proficiency.
- Valid CPR Level C certification, issued within the last 12 months.
- Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector, issued within the last 12 months.
- Standard Employment Hearing Assessment, issued within the last 12 months.
- Successful completion of aptitude test (Criticall).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Calam in high-stress work environments.
- Active listening skills.
- Attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Ability to multi-task with little direction.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as access to employee wellness programs.
