MEDACOM Atlantic is a 24hr emergency service providing critical dispatch and customer support for Prince Edward Island.

We are seeking an experienced Public Safety Communication Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of island residents and visitors.

Job Responsibilities

Dispatch Operations:

  • Answer and handle 911 calls according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Deliver high-quality emergency dispatching and customer service.
  • Coordinate the movement of EMS resources, book and coordinate non-emergency ambulance transfers, and maintain daily reporting.

Communication and Teamwork:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal Shift Captains & Teams.
  • Report on internal and external service inquiries through reporting.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve exceptional results.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Grade 12 (or equivalent).
  • Additional education in Communications or a related field is an asset.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent English language skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Valid CPR Level C certification.
  • Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector.
  • Standard Employment Hearing Assessment.
  • Successful completion of aptitude test (Criticall).
  • Internal training including Emergency Medical Dispatcher Certification (EMD) course.

Working Conditions:

  • Unionized environment.
  • Must be available to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays with 10-12 hour shifts.
  • Dress code: Uniformed, clean and professional appearance (uniform provided).

Estimated Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience.
