Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Commercial Interior Construction Team Lead to join our Vancouver team at Govan Brown & Associates.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that offers the opportunity to work on high-profile commercial interior construction projects, manage project teams, and build long-term relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage commercial interior construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they meet corporate goals for safety, quality, budget, schedule, and profitability.
  • Maintain regular communication with project teams, site managers, clients, designers, trades, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of construction activities.
  • Monitor legal, contractual, and financial aspects of construction projects and develop strategies to mitigate potential risks and challenges.
  • Perform project estimating, including soliciting subcontractors, through to subcontract buyout and contracting.
  • Create, monitor, and report on project schedules and costs, margins, and profitability.
  • Build and lead a strong project team that delivers profitable projects. Provide effective direction, coaching, and support.
  • Develop long-lasting client relationships by managing client expectations, ensuring construction activities align with customer requirements, and identifying opportunities for repeat business.
  • Utilize project management software to set up projects, enter budget estimates, and maintain timesheets.
  • Manage all project documentation, including permits and site notifications, pricing/approvals of RFQs, POs, final city inspections, building occupancy permits, and notice of substantial performance ads.
  • Lead and minute project meetings, track project execution lessons learned, and share them with the team for continuous improvement.
  • Drive business growth by establishing and maintaining solid, long-term relationships with existing and potential clients, designers, and architects, as well as identifying new business opportunities and positioning Govan Brown as a construction manager of choice in the market.
  • Stay up-to-date with competitive developments, commercial real estate activity, and marketplace trends in the industry.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A post-secondary degree/diploma in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • ~5+ years of project management experience in commercial interior construction and base building.
  • Experience working on government projects is an asset.
  • Reliability or Secret security clearance is an asset.
  • Experience with lump sum and construction management contracts.
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining long-term client, consultant, supplier, and subcontractor relationships.
  • Knowledge of the local and national construction market, including labor and resource costs.
  • The ability to recognize, prioritize, and mitigate project risks.
  • Tech savviness in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $110,000 - $140,000 per year, depending on experience.
