Sr. Technical Artist

Electronic Arts Inc. is a global leader in interactive entertainment, driving innovation and creativity in the gaming industry. We're seeking a highly skilled Sr. Technical Artist to join our team, contributing to the development of cutting-edge games and experiences.

The Sr. Technical Artist will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between art and programming departments, ensuring seamless collaboration and efficient workflows. With a strong background in 3D concepts, scripting, and programming, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining art creation pipelines that meet the needs of our content creators.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the Tech Art team and Director to support game and studio vision, driving innovation and excellence in technical art.
  2. Communicate effectively with content creators, providing support and guidance to ensure successful project outcomes.
  3. Assess, design, and implement art creation pipelines that meet artist needs and drive productivity.
  4. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies, applying knowledge to improve workflows and processes.
  5. Provide mentorship and support to junior technical artists, fostering growth and development within the team.
  6. Approach tasks with a focus on timeliness, organization, and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality results and effective communication with stakeholders.

Requirements:

  1. 6+ years of experience in a game production environment, preferably in AAA projects.
  2. Proficiency in game engines (Unity, Unreal Engine) and 2D/3D art packages (Maya, Photoshop, Substance, Houdini).
  3. Advanced understanding of fundamental 3D concepts, including modeling, texturing, rendering, PBR shading, lighting, rigging, skinning, and deformation.
  4. Experience with shader development (HLSL/Renderman or visual language such as Maya Hypershade graphs).
  5. Comfort working at scale, handling game engine workflows, asset requirements, runtime performance budgets, and profiling.

Portfolio:

We require a portfolio/presentation of your work with your application, showcasing your technical art skills and experience. Include detailed breakdowns of your work and clear explanations of your contributions. Please provide examples of:

  1. Tools and pipeline work, including script and code samples.
  2. 3D graphics in areas such as modeling, animation, lighting, visual effects, and shading.
  3. Art (traditional or digital media) that you have personally created.
