Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Separate School Division.

Job Summary:

The Learning Support Assistant will provide assistance to students with various degrees of need in the learning environment under the direction and supervision of the Inclusive Education Liaison, the classroom teacher, and the principal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with special needs in the classroom and during extracurricular activities.
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as using the washroom, eating, and dressing.
  • Support students with communication needs, including augmentative and alternative communication systems.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all school policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Education Assistant Certificate and/or Diploma or Rehabilitation Practitioner Certificate and/or Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one-year experience working with students with special programming needs.
  • First Aid training.
  • Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments Training (SIVA) Certificate.
  • Training and experience with augmentative communication systems.
  • Experience working on academic goals with students who have multiple barriers.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Brain Story Certification through Alberta Family Wellness training.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
