Job Summary:
The Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Separate School Division is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Assistant to join our team. As an Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with various degrees of need in the learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance to students with special programming needs under the direction and supervision of the Inclusive Education Liaison, classroom teacher, and principal.
- Carry out tasks as assigned by daily and program supervisors in a collaborative team-based structure.
- Support students in achieving their academic goals, including those with multiple barriers.
- Utilize augmentative communication systems and other specialized skills to support student needs.
- Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of the school community.
Requirements:
- Education Assistant Certificate and/or Diploma or Rehabilitation Practitioner Certificate and/or Diploma or equivalent.
- At least one-year experience working with students with special programming needs.
- First Aid training.
- Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments Training (SIVA) Certificate.
- Training and experience with augmentative communication systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Brain Story Certification through Alberta Family Wellness.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to take responsibility for individual student needs.
- Ability to contribute in a collaborative team-based learning structure.
