Job Summary:

Plaza Sushi Downtown London is seeking a skilled Sushi Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience and no degree, certificate, or diploma in a related field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create new and innovative sushi recipes to enhance our menu offerings.
  • Instruct cooks in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of sushi dishes.
  • Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Prepare and cook sushi and other Japanese dishes on a regular basis or for special guests or functions.
  • Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
  • Train staff in the preparation, cooking, and handling of food, including proper food safety and handling procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • A valid Safe Food Handling certificate.
  • A valid Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
  • A valid Food Safety Certificate.

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced and dynamic kitchen environment.
  • Non-smoking environment.
  • May require working in a wet or damp environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift heavy loads and stand for extended periods.
  • May require bending, crouching, or kneeling.

Personal Suitability:

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Dependable, efficient, and organized with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Flexible and able to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
