Job Title: Registered Practical Nurse BSO

At Langstaff Square Community, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse to join our team as a Behavioural Support Resource Team (BSRT) Lead. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and clinical expertise to provide high-quality care to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide sound clinical knowledge and skills to lead the BSRT and provide comprehensive, quality client/family-centred health care services.
  • Collaborate with Psychogeriatric Resource consultants and mobile behaviour support resources to develop and refresh the LTCH's Behaviour Support Resource Team.
  • Provide leadership and support to the LTC home's BSRT and coach LTC home staff in the use of frameworks such as PIECES and UFIRST.
  • Maintain a short-term active clinical caseload of older adults presenting with or at risk for responsive behaviours.
  • Provide comprehensive bio-psychosocial geriatric assessments, treatment, follow-up, and discharge planning in collaboration with the BSRT.
Requirements:
  • Registered Practical Nurse with current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Training in Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA).
  • Minimum one (1) year experience with clients in long-term care or residents in a long-term care home setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill working with older adults presenting with or at risk for responsive behaviours.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and mentor others.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • U-FIRST, P.I.E.C.E.S., Dementiability.
  • Basic computer skills – MDS/RAI, Microsoft Word, Excel, and online learning utilities.
