Job Summary:

The Medical Office Coordinator will perform varied clerical and reception duties in a medical setting. The incumbent will exercise initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods, and action to be taken on unusual matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to medical staff and patients
  • Manage medical records and maintain confidentiality
  • Coordinate appointments and communicate with patients and staff
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate records
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of medical terminology and procedures

Requirements:

  • Grade XII or equivalent
  • Completion of a recognized secretarial or business office training program
  • Typing speed of 40 words per minute
  • Excellent computer skills in Windows and Microsoft Office Programs
  • Two years experience as a clerk in a hospital or Personal Care Home preferred
  • Medical Terminology preferred
  • Experience working with patients/clients, families, physicians, and general staff
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Proficiency in both official languages
