Established in 1976, the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a pioneering First Nation-governed post-secondary institution. Recognized under provincial legislation, it has been entrusted with the authority to grant certificates and diplomas.

Nature and Scope

The Project Development Manager will be accountable for the strategic coordination, management, and administration of projects and initiatives within the Curriculum & Learning department at SIIT. This role will promote and foster an environment that embodies SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate.

General Accountability

The Project Development Manager will oversee the organization of the Indigenous Early Childhood Education (INECE) Microcredentials from inception to completion. Responsibilities include project development, project writing, content creation, instructional design, and course reviews.

This role will assist in defining project scope and objectives, collaborating with all relevant internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring overall feasibility. The Project Development Manager will facilitate the design, planning, and implementation of projects. Key responsibilities include:

Coordination & Administration

  • Identify, initiate, and manage projects for the Curriculum & Learning Department as required.
  • Develop a detailed project plan to schedule, monitor, and track progress using project management software.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs as needed using appropriate verification and communication techniques.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Monitor progress toward goals and milestones and provide regular project progress reports to the Director.
  • Assist the Director in the overall operations, financial performance, and success of the INECE Microcredential development.
  • Prepare and submit reports to internal and external stakeholders as required; participate in project follow-up surveys.
  • Collect data on events, trainings, meetings, assess results, and make recommendations for future project planning and execution.
  • Research SMEs, mentors, trainers, facilitators, and other resources for projects.
  • Oversee project correspondences and prepare and review project-related emails, letters, proposals, memos, meeting minutes, and other documents.

Research and Reporting

  • Collaborate with the Director to engage with internal and external stakeholders to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives.
  • Organize and co-facilitate engagement sessions with First Nation communities, stakeholders, and partners.
  • Evaluate student and stakeholder needs as projects evolve and collaborate on strategies with the Director where applicable.
  • Provide regular updates on project activities to the Director, internal and external partners, and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with faculty, staff, and students as necessary and encourage innovative solutions to challenges as they arise.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with other institutes and partners to meet community, professional, development, and educational needs.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality and privacy of information related to students, clients, staff, partners, and other third parties.
  • Contribute to strategic effectiveness by participating on internal and external committees as requested by the supervisor.

Relationship Management

  • Collaborate with the SIIT learning community, internal and external stakeholders to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives.
  • Document partnerships with associated organizations and community representatives.
  • Build relationships with related associations, networks, agencies, and partners as necessary.
  • Organize and facilitate engagement sessions with early childhood education professionals and other stakeholders.
  • Deliver client and stakeholder services in a timely, efficient, and tactful manner.
  • Foster a positive, diverse, and inclusive work and learning environment.

Resource Allocation

  • Assist with monitoring budgets for all projects and other initiatives as required.
  • Ensure sufficient resources are available to implement projects and initiatives.
  • Review purchase orders related to projects.
  • Review invoices and expenses for payment.
  • Allocate resources in accordance with the financial planning and operating budget.

Requirements

Candidates should possess an Education Degree or demonstrated experience in Early Childhood Education (ECE), with at least three years of relevant experience. Proficiency in the Microsoft 365 Suite of Programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is essential. Project management experience is an asset. Knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations would be advantageous.

Estimated Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 per annum based on qualifications and experience.
