The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Technologist to join our team at the Centre for Advancement of Water and Wastewater Technologies (CAWT). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, decommissioning, and operating various experiments, technologies, and laboratory instruments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and execute research projects by following project outlines and test plans;
  • Conduct laboratory analyses for water and wastewater treatment research within set timelines;
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and infrastructure;
  • Coordinate with external parties for services, repairs, and troubleshooting;
  • Organize the work of laboratory technicians, students, and others to meet project deliverables.
Requirements:
  • A minimum 3-year degree in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Toxicology, or a related science discipline;
  • Up to three years of related work experience in analytical methods, instrumentation, and research projects;
  • Strong interpersonal, planning, time management, and communication skills;
  • Prioritization of quality control measures to ensure repeatability and data integrity.
About You

We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with excellent organizational skills and a passion for water treatment research. If you have a valid Class G driver's license and intermediate skills with software programs, including spreadsheets and word processing, we encourage you to apply.

What We Offer
  • A competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience;
  • A temporary 2-year full-time opportunity working either Tuesday – Saturday or Sunday - Thursday weekly schedule;
  • 100% on-campus employment when not traveling;
  • A chance to contribute to cutting-edge research projects and collaborate with experienced professionals.

Please note that this position has been designated as 100% on campus when not traveling. Travel to and between lab sites will be required within the Lakefield/Peterborough area. Must be willing to work the occasional weekend or holiday.
