About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our Emergency Mental Health Team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with complex mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive mental health assessments, interventions, and treatment plans for patients with complex mental illnesses.
  • Collaborate with the inter-professional team to ensure safe and effective care, including crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and community resources to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices, policies, and procedures in mental health care.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum two years of recent (within last 5 years) in-patient mental health nursing experience with demonstrated knowledge, skill, and ability in the care of patients with concurrent disorders.
  • Excellent assessment and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the application of the Mental Health Act.
