Your Opportunity:

The Emergency Mental Health Team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital is seeking a skilled Registered Psychiatric Nurse/Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive mental health care to patients in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care, reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
  • Assess, plan, and organize treatment/therapeutic interventions for adult patients with complex mental illnesses.
  • Collaborate with the inter-professional team to provide decision-making support and model professional leadership.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of psychopharmacology, including current psychotropic medications and side effects.
  • Stay up-to-date with community resources and best practices in mental health care.
Requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill related to crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (or successful completion as part of clinical orientation).
  • Leadership, problem-solving, critical thinking, and team building skills.
  • Interpersonal and de-escalation skills.
