About the Job:
The successful candidate will have a PhD in French or Linguistics or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. The successful candidate will have 1) demonstrated expertise in experimental or corpus-based French linguistics, and 2) a focus on language acquisition, bi/multilingualism, or psycholinguistics.
About the Research:
The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research and to establish an outstanding research program. The candidate must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees.
About the Teaching:
The successful applicant will teach both French linguistics (FRE) and French-as-a-second-language (FSL) courses in the French undergraduate programs. They will be expected to develop and maintain an active program of research and to participate in experiential education and community outreach activities including with local high schools.
Requirements:
The successful candidate must have native or near-native proficiency in French and a strong command of spoken and written English. The candidate must also have a strong teaching philosophy and a demonstrated ability to teach effectively.
