Course description:
The objective of this course is to introduce students to the phonetic system of the French language, teach basic vocabulary, and develop awareness of language functions in different situations and contexts. An awareness of various francophone cultures and communities will be developed.

Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I: $9,457.90 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $9,930.79 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,326.62 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $10,570.02 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Please note that rates stipulated in the collective agreement take precedence over rates stated in this posting.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications:
Graduate-level degree in French Studies
Demonstrated experience teaching university-level French-as-a-second-language courses
(Near-)native competence in spoken and written French
Preferred qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in teaching this course or a similar course at the university level
Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12
Description of duties:
All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content, out-of-class interactions with students, development and administration of assignments and exams, calculation and submission of grades, ordering of necessary readings, and supervision of TAs (if any)
