About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technical Assistant to join our team at PortageRx Pharmacy. As a Pharmacy Technical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists and ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Pharmacists: Provide support to our pharmacists in dispensing medications, answering patient questions, and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Prepare Medications: Prepare medications for clients, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintain Equipment: Clean and maintain equipment, including automated dispensing systems and other pharmacy equipment.
  • Support Scheduling: Assist with scheduling and workflow, ensuring that patient appointments are managed efficiently.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies, ensuring that we have the necessary resources to provide excellent patient care.
  • Clerical Duties: Perform general clerical duties, including data entry and record-keeping.
  • Environmental Health and Safety: Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a pharmacy or related field.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Excel, MS Office, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word.
  • Work Environment: Fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks, work under pressure, and physically demanding.
  • Personal Suitability: Client focus, organized, team player, and ability to multitask.
Support for Indigenous People
  • Cultural Competency: Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
  • Cultural Awareness: Provide cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
  • Elder Support: Facilitate access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.
Work Environment
  • Language: English.
  • Hours of Work: 35 hours per week.
