About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technical Assistant to join our team at PortageRx Pharmacy. As a Pharmacy Technical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists and ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Pharmacists: Provide support to our pharmacists in dispensing medications, answering patient questions, and resolving any medication-related issues.
  • Prepare Medications: Prepare and package medications for patients, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintain Equipment and Supplies: Clean and maintain equipment, as well as ensure that all necessary supplies are stocked and organized.
  • Support Scheduling and Workflow: Assist with scheduling appointments, managing workflow, and ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Perform General Clerical Duties: Perform various administrative tasks, such as data entry, filing, and answering phone calls.
Requirements
  • Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a pharmacy or related field.
  • Computer and Technology Skills: Proficient in MS Excel, MS Office, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, perform repetitive tasks, and work under pressure. Physically demanding role requiring standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Personal Suitability: Strong client focus, organized, team player, and ability to multitask.
Support for Indigenous People
  • Participate in Indigenous Support Programs: Participate in government or community programs that support Indigenous people.
  • Offer Mentorship and Coaching: Offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
  • Develop Relationships with Indigenous Communities: Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, Indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
  • Provide Cultural Competency Training: Provide cultural competency training and awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
  • Facilitate Access to Elders: Facilitate access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.
