The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Police Communications Operator to join our team at the City of Red Deer. As a key member of our public safety team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the efficient handling of emergency and non-emergency calls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate responses to emergency and non-emergency calls
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all calls and incidents
  • Utilize police databases and computer software to retrieve and update information
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless communication and response to emergencies
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices and procedures

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of direct experience in a police communications environment or related field
  • National RCMP Telecommunications Operator Course or equivalent
  • Ability to pass RCMP Security Clearance prior to employment
  • Ability to maintain RCMP Security Clearance throughout employment
  • 50wpm typing speed with high accuracy
  • Ability to work shift work, including evenings and weekends
