The Marine Life Department Head is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Marine Life department at West Edmonton Mall. This includes managing the animal care team, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement operational procedures to ensure efficient and effective management of the Marine Life department.
- Collaborate with the Education department to develop and deliver engaging and informative programs for guests.
- Manage the hiring, training, and development of staff to ensure the department's needs are met.
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of animal habitats and facilities to ensure they are safe and humane for both animals and guests.
- Develop and manage the department's budget to ensure financial sustainability and growth.
- Build and maintain relationships with other departments, including Marketing, Human Resources, and Accounting, to ensure seamless collaboration and communication.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant field, such as business, biological sciences, or animal health.
- 8-10 years of experience in a related position, with a proven track record of leadership and management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Terms of Employment:
- This is a full-time position that requires flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- This is a salary-based position with a competitive compensation package, including group benefits.
- Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
