Job Title: Marine Life Attraction Manager
Job Summary:
The Marine Life Attraction Manager is a key member of the West Edmonton Mall team, responsible for overseeing the entire Marine Life department. This includes managing animal care, ensuring compliance with regulations, and overseeing the education and training of staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Animal Care department and ensure all husbandry procedures are being followed.
- Establish and monitor operational procedures to ensure compliance with all legal and safety regulations.
- Ensure all animal habitats are humane and safe for the animals and staff.
- Oversee the Education department and ensure all courses and programs meet requirements and are up to date.
- Oversee the interviewing, hiring, training, and development of all staff to ensure the establishment's requirements are being met.
- Manage all staff, training, and performance management practices.
- Be called upon to resolve customer service issues, public inquiries, and guest concerns relating to Marine Life.
- Provide all employees with the materials needed to fulfill animal and trainer needs.
- Ensure overall Marine Life facility maintenance and cleanliness protocols meet standards.
- Ensure the Marine Life CAZA membership is up to date and the department is working within their regulations.
- Oversee all fiscal activities of the Marine Life department, including preparation of a yearly budget and monitoring all other expenses and labor costs.
- Maintain a positive and cohesive working relationship with other departments.
Desired Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree required.
- Eight to ten years of experience in a related position.
- Prior animal training, husbandry, and exhibit management skills preferred.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, a professional demeanor, and a high level of confidence in the workplace.
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta's Drivers' License and able to provide a clear Drivers' Abstract.
Terms of Employment:
- This is a full-time position that requires flexible availability.
- This is a salary-based position at $87,360 annually and includes group benefits.
- Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
- Language of work: English.
