Marine Life Department Head
The Marine Life Department Head is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Marine Life department at West Edmonton Mall. This includes managing the animal care team, ensuring the health and well-being of the marine animals, and maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement animal care protocols to ensure the health and well-being of the marine animals.
- Manage the animal care team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and excellent guest experiences.
- Monitor and maintain the marine animal habitats, ensuring they are safe and suitable for the animals and guests.
- Develop and implement educational programs and activities to promote marine life awareness and conservation.
- Manage the department's budget and resources, ensuring efficient use of funds and personnel.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant field, such as biology, zoology, or animal science.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a related field, preferably in a marine life or aquarium setting.
- Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in team management and development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
