About the Role

Aon is seeking a seasoned Senior Construction Underwriter to join our team in Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, or Vancouver. As a key player in our Linx project construction offering, you will be responsible for underwriting Builders Risk and Wrap Up liability policies, analyzing new business and project extensions, and developing clear underwriting proposals for accounts that may fall outside our underwriting authority.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with management and colleagues to expand our Linx project construction offering and programs
  • Share industry experience and knowledge with junior team members, brokers, and markets
  • Underwrite complex construction projects, identifying opportunities to upsell coverage, limits, or products
  • Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing within our underwriting guidelines and authorities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and markets, providing exceptional customer service and solutions-oriented approach
  • Contribute to the training and development of junior underwriters and underwriting assistants
  • Monitor and assess competitive factors in the marketplace, keeping the team informed of changing market conditions
Requirements
  • 5+ years of project construction underwriting experience
  • 5-10 years of commercial property and casualty experience in the contracting sector (an asset)
  • Cross-Canada underwriting experience (an asset)
  • AIIC/CIP and/or FCIP designation
  • Strong decision-making skills, creativity, and analytical abilities
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, understanding the time sensitivity of the project construction market
  • Team player with experience mentoring or training junior staff (an asset)
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Outlook
