Facility Operations Leader

About this role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Facility Operations Worker 2 to join our team at the City of Red Deer. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and efficient operation of our recreation facilities.

Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary range of $34.56 to $36.38 per hour. In addition to a market-competitive wage, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a generous pension plan.

Key Responsibilities

This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance duties, including resurfacing ice, monitoring technical equipment, and conducting water tests
  • Supervising users in assigned facilities, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment, ice rinks, playing fields, and other facility components
  • Assuming responsibility for facility operations in the absence of the Facility Operator/Custodial Specialist
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • AARFP Building Maintenance Level 1 certification
  • AARFP Supervisory Skills Level 1 or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant supervisory and professional experience performing similar work in recreation facilities
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, 'as-builts', and technical specifications
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License
  • Current Standard First Aid and WHMIS certification
  • Familiarity with all safety, fire, building, and other relevant codes
