FTTH Design Specialist: Fiber Network Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled FTTH Design Specialist to design, plan, and oversee the implementation of fiber optic networks in residential areas. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the successful deployment of FTTH infrastructure.
Main Responsibilities:- Design FTTH networks, including fiber routes, distribution, and drop points, ensuring optimal network performance and efficiency.
- Create detailed network design maps using GIS and CAD software, leveraging industry-standard tools to enhance accuracy and reliability.
- Conduct site surveys to assess feasibility and gather necessary data for design, facilitating informed decision-making and minimizing potential issues.
- Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including schematics, fiber allocation plans, and bill of materials, adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of network designs, modifications, and as-built documentation, ensuring seamless project tracking and compliance.
- Generate progress reports and project status updates for management and stakeholders, fostering open communication and transparency.
- Work closely with project managers to develop project timelines and resource requirements, ensuring timely completion and optimal resource allocation.
- Coordinate with field technicians and contractors to ensure designs are accurately implemented, guaranteeing high-quality outcomes.
- Liaise with local authorities and utility companies to obtain necessary permits and clearances, navigating complex regulatory environments with ease.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements, upholding the highest levels of quality and integrity.
- Conduct quality checks and site inspections to verify the accuracy of installations, identifying and addressing any potential issues promptly.
- Address and resolve any design-related issues that arise during the deployment process, providing expert guidance and support.
- Provide technical support and guidance to field technicians and other team members, promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Conduct training sessions on FTTH design principles and best practices, enhancing team capabilities and expertise.
- Travel may be required to various project locations, with flexible working hours potentially needed to meet project deadlines.
- Proficient with the use of computers and software, including MS Office (Word, Teams & Excel), with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to telecommunications and fiber optic networks, with familiarity with network design software (e.g., OSPInsight, Bentley).
- Post-secondary education in Geographic Information Systems is an asset, with a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in FTTH design (e.g., FTTH Council Certified) is beneficial, with 3+ years of FTTH/x design experience.
- 3+ years of experience with GIS and AutoCAD, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in FTTH network design and deployment.
- Proficiency in GIS and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, ArcGIS), with a strong understanding of fiber optic technology and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Understanding of Utility and Telecommunications planning, design, and permitting, with experience with project management tools and methodologies.
