Safety and Industrial Hygiene Leader

Are you looking for a challenging role in safety management? We are seeking an experienced Safety and Industrial Hygiene Leader to join our team at General Motors Canada.
About the RoleThis is a full-time position based in St. Catharines, Ontario, requiring the successful candidate to be on-site on a regular basis. As a key member of our site leadership team, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety regulatory requirements.
Main Responsibilities- Provide technical and regulatory advice on Workplace Safety and Industrial Hygiene to site personnel;
- Assist site leadership in maintaining compliance with Health and Safety regulations;
- Lead and participate in site committees such as JHSC, Incident Reduction Committee, Ergonomics Committee, and Safety Stars;
- Analyze Workplace Safety data and communicate results and trends, along with continuous improvement opportunities;
- Develop partnerships with key site personnel, including site leadership and union representatives;
- Conduct safety audits, hazard assessments, risk assessments, and workplace inspections, recommending corrective actions;
- Support new and modified equipment review and buyoff processes.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene) and 2+ years of experience in a full-time Workplace Safety, Ergonomics, or Industrial Hygiene position;
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act of Ontario;
- Demonstrated high-level initiative and interpersonal skills to work effectively with others;
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills;
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
