Join Our Team as an Applied Scientist

We are seeking an experienced Applied Scientist to join our team at Amazon Development Centre Canada ULC. As an Applied Scientist, you will play a key role in developing machine learning models to improve the accuracy of tax classification based product information in Amazon's catalogue.

About the Role

As an Applied Scientist, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and deploying machine learning models to improve tax classification accuracy
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize areas for improvement
  • Designing and implementing experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of new models
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to junior team members
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 3+ years of experience in building models for business applications
  • PhD or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. computer science, engineering, mathematics)
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms and data structures
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, C++, or Python
Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with experience in:

  • Unix/Linux operating systems
  • Professional software development
