Traffic Control Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Control Specialist to join our team at Webber Infrastructure Management Canada Limited. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient management of highway incidents and accidents.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency response management principles, with excellent communication, assessment, and problem-solving skills. You will be required to work independently, prioritize demands, and make sound judgments in high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage highway incidents and accidents, ensuring the safety of the traveling public and minimizing disruptions to traffic flow.
- Collaborate with provincial and local police, fire, and emergency responders to coordinate incident response efforts.
- Communicate effectively with the Ministry of Transportation Traffic Operations Centre to provide updates and information on incidents.
- Conduct thorough investigations into incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Develop and implement detour routes to minimize traffic congestion and ensure safe passage.
- Track and maintain records of incidents and accidents, providing valuable insights for future improvements.
- Assist with the administration of third-party claims, gathering documentation and other relevant information.
- Coordinate special events involving traffic control, detours, and/or closures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- High School Diploma required.
- Minimum 2+ years' experience in highway maintenance operations, freeway traffic control, and incident/accident management.
- Valid Class DZ driver's license with a good driving record.
- OTM BOOK 7 certification required.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, often in extreme weather conditions. The role will involve frequent exposure to outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, as well as occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of safety awareness, with the ability to recognize hazards and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury, or accident.
