Job Summary:

The Electrical Controls Specialist will be responsible for maintaining plant control systems, championing new advanced technology initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires a strong background in electrical engineering, automation, and control systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop control systems for plant equipment, including electrical schematics and programming.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system issues, including control panels, field electrical devices, and instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality departments to prevent and solve quality issues related to programming changes and additional safeguards.
  • Install and maintain plant and SCADA equipment, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain critical spare parts lists for key equipment and maintain maintenance laptops to ensure all backups are synchronized.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a similar role, ideally in a production-oriented environment with emphasis on stamping, forming, and automated processes using robots.
  • Proficient in electrical CAD systems, preferably AutoCAD-2020, to design electrical control panels, power distribution, control systems, cabling/wiring, and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of electrical standards such as NFPA 79, National Electrical Code, IEC standards, CEC standards, UL508, and safety standards such as ISO and ISO 12100.
  • Proficient knowledge in Beckhoff, Siemens, Omron, Bosch, and Allen Bradley control systems and components.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to trace wires and faulty components, and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Work Environment:

This role requires 100% plant floor work, with PPE required. The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 35lbs and work with push-pull forces of up to 50lbs or less.

Decision Making and Authority:

The Electrical Controls Specialist will have decision-making authority in quality, safety, and efficiency, with the ability to identify critical situations and communicate up. They will also have the authority to establish priorities when faced with multiple projects.
