What is the Opportunity?

We are seeking a Senior Scrum Master to support the delivery of initiatives that are transformational, innovative, and regulatory. Reporting to the Director, Investments Technology, this role will enable one or more multi-disciplinary agile teams to deliver technology projects aligned with business strategic priorities and regulatory demands.

The Role

The Senior Scrum Master is a key role within an Agile delivery team, responsible for removing any impediments that obstruct a team's pursuit of its sprint goals and ultimately delivering a product that generates business benefits for one or several RBC lines of business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Agile initiatives from initiation through release, providing oversight to ensure alignment with RBC Agile/Scrum practices, including project kickoff, sprint, release, and deployment planning.
  • Accountable alongside the scrum team for the achievement of release objectives and results that meet LOB stakeholders' needs and expectations.
  • Track and manage risks to delivery and reporting financials for the Team.
  • Facilitate discussion leading to collective decision-making, goal setting, and conflict resolution within the team.
  • Remove impediments to delivery success through the proactive management of external dependencies and simple team problem-solving, considering options and selecting solutions; escalate issues through business and/or IT channels where necessary.
  • Accountable for creating and maintaining the appropriate vehicles for open communication within the scrum team (e.g., tracker boards) to create a trusting and safe team environment. Manage team performance to promote joint accountability for results and solve productivity issues.
  • Facilitating and engaging in business analysis, user experience, and technical conversations across platforms. Navigating and identifying shared IT services required by the team in the delivery of its objectives.

Requirements

  • 10+ years Project Management experience; spanning small projects and large programs with high-level value (benefit/cost), and very high-level complexity/uncertainty, and a track record of successful delivery.
  • An attitude for success, proactive approach to project management, outstanding verbal and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail, and passion for innovation.
  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile practices.
  • Knowledge of collaboration tools.
  • JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience with Planview and/or RBC MIS (Management Information System).
  • Proven ability to manage high-visible programs/projects with third-party vendors and significant technology components along with having a strong executive presence and advanced communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of change, issue, and risk management and working knowledge of Software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery methodologies/day2day ceremonies; Agile experience fostering team improvements through standard Agile processes and ceremonies.
