About the Role

The Hamilton Regional Indian Centre is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the urban Aboriginal population of the Greater Hamilton area. We are seeking a highly skilled and culturally sensitive individual to join our team as a Mobile Street Outreach Worker.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide resources and supports to community members experiencing homelessness
  • Make referrals, provide crisis intervention, and advocate for community members
  • Link community members with other natural supports to reduce risk and long-term homelessness
Requirements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Valid G driver's license and clean driving record
  • Two-year post-secondary education in Social Service Work and/or Indigenous Studies
  • Minimum of two years' experience in outreach, advocacy, or support in a community organization
  • Knowledge of homelessness issues and Indigenous and non-Indigenous community services and supports
  • Ability to maintain a daily schedule of program requirements
  • Capability to move, lift, and store heavy boxes and large containers
  • Ability to handle high levels of stress and adapt to changing circumstances
Preferred Qualifications
  • First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
  • Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) CPIC
