About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Northwood. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and collaborating with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver person-centered care to clients, prioritizing their physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Coordinate care plans and work collaboratively with our interprofessional team to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including documentation and record-keeping, to maintain accurate and up-to-date client information.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to identify their unique needs and develop tailored care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client and staff information.
  • Address mental health and social issues, advocating for clients as needed and promoting healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Respond to client complaints and concerns, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and their families.
  • Organize and prioritize work to ensure efficient and effective care delivery.
  • Establish and maintain a safe environment for clients and staff.
  • Record and monitor client medical information and vital signs.
  • Modify treatment plans as needed based on client responses and conditions.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident care.
  • Maintain clinical skills and seek opportunities for professional development to stay current in the field.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with the Province of Nova Scotia.
  • Minimum 6 months of related experience, preferably in long-term care.
  • Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, make decisions, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly and consistently.
  • Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of and experience with person-centered care models.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • CPR and First Aid certificates required.
  • Non-Violence Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification considered an asset.
