About the Role

The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for carrying out various purchasing-related tasks for American Iron & Metal. This includes ensuring that purchasing procedures are followed, researching new sources of supply to reduce costs, and negotiating purchasing conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure purchasing procedures are followed and applied;
  • Research new sources of supply to reduce costs;
  • Negotiate purchasing conditions;
  • Prepare cost analysis reports;
  • Follow up supplier evaluation;
  • Ensure good communication with other departments;
  • Issue and follow up purchase orders;
  • Manage and prioritize orders placed with suppliers;
  • Follow up open orders and follow-up with suppliers;
  • Maintain relationships with existing suppliers;
  • Analyze and consolidate divisional needs;
  • Implement procedures and performance indicators.

Requirements

  • DEC diploma;
  • At least 5 years' experience in a purchasing department within a manufacturing company;
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English;
  • Quality-conscious overall;
  • Able to work under pressure;
  • Autonomous and resourceful;
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (an asset).
