As a Relief (On Call) Permanent position within the Bargaining Unit, this role falls under the Transportation Department and reports directly to the Transportation Manager.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities- Drive agency vehicles to transport clients as directed by the Transportation Manager or designate.
- Ensure clients' safety while in transit by ensuring they are securely seated with seat belts fastened.
- Escort clients door-to-door for appointments, providing arm assistance when necessary, without lifting or transferring them.
- Utilize the provided phone to access schedules and maintain communication with the office.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and report any deficiencies to the Transportation Supervisor or designate.
- Participate in driver training and evaluations as required.
- Gasoline fills up and oil checks as needed.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to clients consistently.
- Hold a valid Class 'G' license.
- Possess at least 3 years of experience transporting clients.
- Have 10 years of general driving experience.
- Maintain a clean Ministry of Transportation Driver's Abstract.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
- Show the ability to exercise sound judgment and exhibit flexibility.
- Be capable of problem-solving and working independently.
- Prior experience working with seniors is essential.
- Experience interacting with individuals with cognitive impairment is preferred.
- This role requires physical ability to assist clients with arm support, fold walkers and wheelchairs, and place them in vehicles, as well as assist with grocery shopping bags.
- Reliability and comfort navigating city traffic in a relaxed yet efficient manner are required.
- Able to work legally in Canada.
