Producer - CityNews Toronto

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Producer to join our dynamic team at CityNews Toronto. As a key member of our news operation, you will be responsible for shaping and strengthening the CityNews brand by overseeing the creation of high-quality, engaging content for our streaming channels, daily news programs, and digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the assignment desk, reporters, production team, and CityNews national producers to determine story coverage plans and ensure seamless execution of newscasts and livestreams.
  • Develop and grow in various roles within our newsroom, including line-up producer, event coverage coordinator, and content overseer.
  • Ensure our stories adhere to the Rogers News Policy and follow the principles outlined in our Inclusive Content Guide.
  • Exercise final editorial sign-off before publishing stories.
Requirements:
  • An insatiable curiosity and passion for local live and breaking news.
  • A vision for where legacy newsrooms need to evolve to compete in the digital space.
  • Flexibility to work regular evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Patience and a willingness to explore new ways of producing news.
  • Strong editorial judgment and a passion for growing professionally in a fast-paced, fun newsroom.
