Senior Social Media Strategist

About the Role
Mount Royal University is seeking a highly skilled Senior Social Media Strategist to join our Marketing and Communications team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for shaping our online presence and driving engagement with students, faculty, and the global community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to increase the reach and profile of Mount Royal University.
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of our institutional social media accounts, including content creation and curation.
- Provide leadership and guidance to social media administrators campus-wide to ensure adherence to best practices and brand guidelines.
- Research and evaluate emerging social media and digital communication tools to manage risk and enable day-to-day operations.
- Use data and analytics tools to measure social media performance and provide insights for continuous improvement.
- Actively participate in photography, videography, and editing for social media and other digital platforms.
- Play a critical role in issues management and crisis communications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in a related field or equivalent.
- 5-8 years of direct social media experience with a large, complex organization.
- Previous post-secondary experience is an asset.
- A highly organized self-starter, skilled storyteller, and creative problem solver with highly evolved judgment and interpersonal skills.
- Well-rounded experience in communications, issues management, and emergency response, and reputation management.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt writing style for various purposes.
- Experience with videography, photography, editing, and design template software.
