Job Description

Qualifications and Experience

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced teacher to join our team as a High School Individual Learning Centre Teacher. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Education or equivalent, and a strong background in identifying and offering programming for students to meet their educational outcomes and needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement student-centered learning plans that cater to diverse needs and abilities
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Utilize differentiated learning pedagogy to engage students and promote academic success
  • Integrate self-regulation and social-emotional care practices into classroom instruction
  • Work with Indigenous learners in a culturally diverse community to promote greater community involvement in school-based activities and educational programming

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability

  • Ability to work collaboratively with community Elders, families, and students to promote greater community involvement in school-based activities and educational programming
  • Eagerness to learn about and integrate Carcross/Tagish First Nation and Southern Lakes culture & worldview, and the Tlingit Language in the classroom
  • Keenness to live, work, and participate as an active trusted member of the Carcross community as a whole
  • Strong classroom management, planning and organizational skills, with the ability to motivate learners
  • Solid understanding of a philosophy of inclusive education, excellent interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills working with parents, staff members, coaches, and other partners

Additional Requirements

  • Must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory
  • Will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check
